EverRoot(Implants)

At Renwick Dental, we have perfected the process of single tooth replacements with our exclusive EverRoot™ method.

Dental implants are a modern, fixed, long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. They involve the use of a titanium threaded fixture that is placed directly into the jaw bone, functioning as a substitute for a natural tooth root. The implant, typically crafted from pure titanium, facilitates the growth of new bone cells around it, a process known as ‘Osseointegration’, which firmly anchors the implant in place.

A dental implant can replace:

  • A single tooth: An individual implant is inserted, with a crown affixed atop it.
  • Multiple teeth: Several implants with crowns or a dental bridge fitted onto them.
  • All teeth: Multiple implants supporting a fixed bridge or holding a removable denture securely in place.

The process begins with an initial consultation to assess candidacy for implants and explain the implantation procedure. X-rays and tooth impressions are taken, followed by the formulation of a treatment plan detailing appointments and associated costs.

During the implant placement procedure:

  • Local anesthesia is administered to numb the implant site; sedation is available for anxious patients.
  • An incision is made in the gum to expose the bone, where a small hole is drilled for the titanium implant screw.
  • Customised surgical guide is used to align the implant placement into the perfect position.
  • The titanium ‘screw’ is inserted into the bone, often covered by a protective ‘healing cap’ either left visible or stitched under the gum if deep in the jaw bone.
  • Osseointegration takes place over 3 to 6 months, during which the implant integrates with the bone; failure to integrate leads to implant failure. Therefore it is important to leave it to heal.
  • Once securely integrated, the healing cap is removed, and the final crown, bridge, or overdenture can be affixed by cementing, screwing, or clipping onto the implants.

Additional information:

In some cases, a temporary crown or bridge may be necessary to allow gum healing before the permanent restoration.

Maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental check-ups and cleanings are crucial to implant care, ensuring healthy gums and potentially lifelong durability of the implants. If you have poor oral hygiene, smoke, have uncontrolled diabetes or osteoporosis, your dentist will talk to you about the higher risks of failure early in the consultation process.
