Pre-Operative Instructions for Dermadentique Anti-Wrinkle Injectables
At Renwick Dental, we are excited to offer Dermadentique Anti-Wrinkle Injectables, a non-invasive cosmetic treatment designed to smooth out wrinkles, fine lines, and restore a youthful appearance. Our advanced injectables, including botulinum toxin (Botox®), help relax the muscles that cause wrinkles, giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated look. To ensure the best possible results and minimize any potential side effects, please follow these pre-operative instructions before your appointment.
Before Your Appointment
Eat and Drink
- Hydrate well before your appointment. Drinking plenty of water helps your skin look its best and ensures you’re feeling your best during the procedure.
- You may eat and drink normally before your appointment, but avoid alcohol or excessive caffeine as these can increase the likelihood of bruising or swelling.
Medications
- If you take blood thinners, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or vitamin E supplements, please discontinue them at least 5 days before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising. If you need to take any of these medications for medical reasons, please let us know in advance.
- If you are on prescription medications, be sure to inform us so we can provide specific recommendations related to your treatment.
Avoid Certain Products
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment, as it can increase the chances of bruising or swelling.
- Avoid using topical skincare products with active ingredients like retinol or glycolic acid on the areas to be treated for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as these can make the skin more sensitive and increase the risk of irritation.
Oral Hygiene
- There are no specific restrictions on oral hygiene before the procedure. However, we recommend brushing your teeth gently to avoid any unnecessary skin irritation or discomfort in the areas being treated.
Health Updates
- Please inform us if you have any allergies, particularly to botulinum toxin or any other ingredients used in injectables.
- If you have any recent infections, cold sores, or other skin issues around the treatment area (such as inflammation, rashes, or irritation), it’s important to notify us, as this can affect the treatment.
- Let us know if you have any neurological conditions or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as these may affect your suitability for treatment.
Other Considerations
- Avoid sunburn or excessive sun exposure before your appointment. Sunburned or irritated skin may not respond well to injectables.
What to Expect During Your Dermadentique Anti-Wrinkle Injectable Appointment
Consultation and Assessment
- During your initial consultation, our specialist will discuss your desired results and assess your facial anatomy. We’ll examine the areas of concern, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, or frown lines, to determine the most effective treatment plan for you.
Treatment Plan
- A personalized treatment plan will be developed to target the areas where you desire wrinkle reduction. We’ll discuss the number of injections, expected results, and any aftercare instructions.
Injectable Procedure
- The procedure itself is quick and minimally invasive. We use a very fine needle to inject the botulinum toxin into the targeted muscles. The injections are typically well-tolerated, and you should experience only minimal discomfort.
- The entire treatment usually takes around 15-30 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated.
Aftercare
- After the treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately. There is usually no downtime, but we will give you aftercare instructions to ensure optimal results.
Post-Treatment Instructions
Do’s:
- Avoid massaging or rubbing the treated areas for 24 hours to allow the botulinum toxin to settle into the muscle properly.
- Stay upright for at least 4 hours after the procedure to avoid pressure on the treated area.
- Hydrate well and avoid excessive heat (e.g., saunas or hot showers) for the next 24 hours.
- Apply ice to the treatment areas if you experience mild swelling or redness. This can help soothe the skin and reduce any inflammation.
Don’ts:
- Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours following your treatment to prevent increased blood flow that could cause bruising or swelling.
- Don’t lie down or bend over immediately after the procedure to avoid displacing the product.
Results Timeline
- You may notice the first effects within 3-5 days after treatment. Full results typically appear within 7-14 days as the muscle relaxation takes full effect.
- The effects can last between 3 to 6 months, depending on your individual response and the areas treated. Regular maintenance treatments will help keep your results looking fresh.
Possible Side Effects
- While Dermadentique injectables are generally safe and well-tolerated, you may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days.
- In rare cases, patients may experience headaches, eyelid drooping, or nausea. Please contact us immediately if you have any concerns following your treatment.
