Post-Operative Care for EndoCare+

Thank you for choosing Renwick Dental for your EndoCare+ treatment. EndoCare+ is our advanced approach to root canal therapy, designed to relieve pain and preserve your natural tooth. Some mild discomfort is normal after treatment, and following these care instructions will help ensure a smooth recovery and long-term success.

What to Expect After Your EndoCare+ Appointment

Sensitivity or Discomfort
It’s common to experience some tenderness in the treated area for a few days. This may be noticeable when chewing, biting, or even just touching the tooth. The discomfort should gradually decrease as the surrounding tissues heal.

You may also feel a bit of soreness in the jaw if you had to keep your mouth open for a long time during treatment—this is completely normal.

Swelling or Gum Tenderness
Mild swelling or gum irritation around the treated tooth is also normal. This should resolve within a few days. You can use a cold compress (15–20 minutes at a time) to reduce any swelling or soreness.

Temporary Restoration
A temporary filling or crown is usually placed after your EndoCare+ appointment to protect the tooth until your final restoration is ready. Temporaries may feel slightly rough or a bit different in shape and colour compared to your natural teeth—this is expected.

Please avoid chewing hard or sticky foods on the side of your mouth with the temporary. These materials are not designed to last and may come loose or fall out. If that happens, contact us and we’ll get you in for a short appointment to replace or resecure it.

Post-Treatment Care Instructions

Oral Hygiene

  • Continue brushing and flossing as usual, but be gentle around the treated tooth.
  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid aggressive flossing around the temporary.
  • Rinsing with warm salt water (1 tsp salt in a glass of warm water) can help soothe the gums and reduce irritation.

Eating and Drinking

  • Stick to soft foods for the first 24–48 hours if your tooth feels tender.
  • Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until the final crown or filling is placed.
  • Avoid hard, crunchy, or sticky foods that could dislodge the temporary or cause discomfort.

Pain Relief

  • You can take over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol, following the dosage instructions on the label.
  • A cold compress can also help relieve jaw or gum tenderness.

What to Expect Moving Forward

Healing
Most patients feel significantly better within a few days of their EndoCare+ treatment. Sensitivity should continue to improve with time.

Final Restoration
A final crown or filling is essential to fully restore and protect the treated tooth. Without this step, the tooth may be more prone to breakage or reinfection. We’ll schedule your follow-up to place the final restoration if it hasn’t been done already.

Bite Check
If your bite feels “off” or uneven after the treatment, or if chewing is uncomfortable after a few days, please let us know so we can make a quick adjustment.
